Quiet Moments...
to savor the good things in life...
the American way

Horses, cattle, sheep and good dogs settled the west. One of the American Aussies ancestors could have arrived in the United States as early as 400 year’s ago. Americans preserved something special…you will not find it anywhere else.

The story goes…because of all the civil wars, they are no longer found "there".   As the Spanish ascended on the South West, so did the American Aussie.

They received the name Australian Shepherd from a North West sea port where they arrived with a new load of sheep.

THE INDIANS considered them "ghost dogs" of the spirit world.

As the west was settling, a new American way of standards started to develop!

Choosing best of Breed is a foundation to everything the United States stands for!!

In our life we have goals and standards that we move toward. A standard needs to be understood before we can meet our goal.

Australian Shepherds are a well loved breed! They are an emotionally moving breed.  Beautiful, loving, quality dogs make it a nice breed to own.

A lot goes in to finishing a Champion.  Show wins tell us a lot.  The standard is a structured, detailed outline for all important aspects and necessities.  The show ring is designed to improve a breed as well as maintain necessary qualities.  We should try and learn from as many people and situations as possible.  Having a breed special or performance special is indeed something special.

The most prestigious of all champions is the champion of ring and field.

The breed ring, as well as the trial arena, is a forum for breeders and competitors to carry the torch of tradition.  Tradition is to take the true purpose of the Australian Shepherd breed standard to heart.

We must hold the torch with pride and strive for the best we can do at all times.  A judge’s job is to evaluate and compare the “live stock” and the basic intent of the sport should always be kept in focus.

As a judge we must take whatever action is necessary to assure the validity of our goals.  Winning is only valid if it is done in respect to fairness.

Sharing is caring!

The Breed is entrusted to all who love it!  Any breed is only as good as the breeders who care for it!
